How to obtain a social security number for your new H-2B or H-2A worker.

Your worker should go to the nearest Social Security Administration field office with the following items in hand: 

• Current valid, unexpired passport showing the admission stamp for the class of admission that permits work (the passport used to enter with the H-2B or H-2A visa) 
• Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record  (see I-94 page for how to access)

Accessing I-94 Records 

Form I-94 serves as evidence of admission or parole into the United States in a nonimmigrant status, as well as a record of the allowed period of stay for that nonimmigrant. All workers coming in H-2B or H-2A status should download a copy of their I-94.
